Citation Management

ATTENTION:

Due to budget considerations, the Boreham Library will not be renewing its subscription to RefWorks and as of September 30, 2010 you will no longer have access to RefWorks.

If you have a RefWorks account and would like to save your citations, the library recommends that you export them to Zotero. It is a free, easy-to-use FireFox browser extension.

Zotero logo Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, cite, and share your research sources. It lives right where you do your work—in the web browser itself.

Directions for exporting RefWorks citations to Zotero.

Important: Zotero only works with the Firefox browser. Go to the Zotero site and download the software then create a personal account.
  1. In RefWorks, click on References—Export. Choose All References. Keep the format as Bibliographic Software (EndNote, Reference Manager, ProCite)
  2. Click Export to Text File. This takes you to the download screen, where you will be prompted to save the text file. Your browser may block this action (if pop-ups are blocked); if so, click the Download It link.
  3. Open the Zotero pane by clicking the Zotero icon in the lower right corner of your browser. Click the Actions icon (looks like a gear) and select Import. This will create a new folder with all your imported citations. You can then move them to another folder if your wish.
Please contact the library if you have questions or need assistance.
