1. During fall and spring semesters, the library is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
During the summer semesters, the library is closed on Saturday.
Between semesters, the library is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
2. Yes! If your forget your ID, we will be happy to put an item on the hold shelf for you.
3. Yes. The library has a limited number of laptop computers for student use. These items are for library use only. Your student ID will be kept at the Circulation Desk until the laptop is returned.
4. There is a maximum of ten items that may be checked out per person at a time. There is a limit of five items in a particular Dewey class number that may be checked out by one individual. (An exception to this rule is Juvenile Literature - limit is ten items.) There is a limit of three audiovisual items within the maximum limit.
5. Regular books circulate for three weeks (21 days). Regular audiovisual materials circulate for seven days. Certain items may be on reserve for a class and may have different restrictions: i.e., overnight, 2 or 7 day reserve, or in-library use only.
6. Black/white printing costs $0.10 per page and will require a UA-Fort Smith Lions ID card in order to retrieve printing jobs at the print release stations. For those without a Lions ID card, a print card may be purchased in the library. Print release stations are located on the 1st and 2nd floors.
Color printing costs $0.50 per page. Please use the color printing workstation on the 1st floor. The pages are sent to a color printer behind the Circulation Desk and may be retrieved upon payment. Payment for color copies is by cash or check only.
7. You may access our online catalog from any computer with Internet access. Search by title, keyword, subject or author. You may limit by material.
8. Nonfiction items are located on the first floor. These items circulate. Nonfiction, Juvenile fiction, and videos are on the second floor. These items circulate as well. Reference books and periodicals are also located on the second floor and must be used in the library. Need a DVD or CD? Please give the title and call number to library staff at the Circulation Desk.
9. If you call the library at 788-7200 before the item is due, we will be happy to renew an item once. Items may also be renewed once online by using the My Library Record link found near the bottom right of the screen in our catalog
10. If the item is not available, use the Request button near the top of your screen to put a hold on the item. Library staff can also place a hold for you. An item will remain on the hold shelf for 72 hours.
11. Go to our Journal Locator, type in the title or ISSN of the journal, and use the Search button to see if we have holdings for a particular journal.
12. Click on the ILLiad link from the library home page to create a username/password in ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system. Give us as much information as you can about the item, and submit the request. Interlibrary loan requests can take from 7-14 days to fill and the cost to students is $1.00 per item. (If the lending library charges more than the standard fee, we'll contact you.) Overdue fines for interlibrary loan material are assessed at $0.50 per day.
13. Yes, there are four study rooms on the 2nd floor. However, these rooms may not be reserved. Groups will have priority over individuals in the use of these rooms.
14. Yes, there are two scanners available on the 2nd floor. They are located in the microfilm/scanning area behind the printers.
15. See this information from the Help Desk. If you find that you do need a password reset or default password, simply bring a photo ID to the Circulation Desk.
16. Although library staff will not set up wireless access for you, we do have instructions for Mac, XP, and Vista.
